Ohmigod. Is it contagious?!

Yawns are weird things.  I mean, all of a sudden, out of nowhere, we have to open our mouths and suck in some air, and we have no control over it.  What the hell?!  I mean, sure, we can try to stifle it, but that looks equally ridiculous.

 

And what's up with yawns being contagious?!  They're not contagious like a cold or the plague.  But they certainly seem to be contagious. That's just bizarre.  What could possibly be the evolutionary purpose for contagious yawns?  If one yawn spurs another person to yawn, thereby beginning a vicious cycle of yawn distribution, why aren't we continuously yawning?  If anything, that could lead to the destruction of the world!  Picture it:  The enemy is preparing its attack:  "We'll start a yawn chain and catch those darn good guys when they're at their weakest.  Mwa ha ha!"

 

And there are 2 ways to get you!  Silent yawns can make you yawn.  Someone yawns aloud, behind you?  Guess what?  You've been tagged!

 

 I remember a Garfield comic strip that showed the spreading of yawns among Garfield, Jon, and Odie (if memory serves!).  And I remember that it always made me yawn.  Yawns are so strange....

You know, we learn a lot from TV and movies, even if we don't realize it.  I mean, how many times have two people come to understand a situation better because they relate it to something that they had both seen on TV or in a movie?  And how many times do we end up quoting a movie or TV show (rather than a book!!) to enhance our point?

My name is Miss Ferna, and I'm quite the dork.

My sister has just up and moved to New York.

She left me alone, and without her dog.

So now I must share all my thoughts in this blog.

I know that she'll write, or I'll hold her phone hostage.

Tomorrow I'll have some eggs and some sausage.

Hola, amigas (y amigos, si ellos quieren leer mi 'blog' también). So, I'm sitting in a professor's office, procrastinating the start of what is sure to be a slightly dull morning. But, alas! For I have a lovely CD to listen to - Huff Rally. How exciting is that?! They make the morning go by so smoothly, like a walk in the park at dusk or a creamy latte with just the right amount of yummies. Okay, I have slacked enough.

Hi! I'm Jenn (aka FernaBear). I like coffee and talking and talking about coffee. This is my first blog! What a weird word. I wonder what the etymology of the word 'blog' is. But I don't care enough at this time to look it up. My sister is moving to New York which is, incidentally, the purpose of me starting up this blog so that we can correspond. But it has its other uses as well. Other...evil uses! Mwa ha ha!!
