Meet My Stalker

Yes, folks. I may indeed have a stalker. I make light of it now 'cuz it's just been simple stuff. He is a new member of the College where I work, and a new research assistant (RA) for the professor I was an RA for this past summer. So, needless to say, he saw me all over the place this summer.
A couple of days ago, when I was working for the professor, the two of them were talking. I heard him say "...unless Jennifer wants to go with me?" What?! So I looked up. Apparently, he'd been talking to the professor about whether I would go with him to Phoenix...to help move his wife (?!?) to Austin. What?!?!
Then, yesterday, he kept coming by my work, and kept thinking of things to talk about to stick around. And then he said that he hopes that we can talk again in the future. Aurghh!
This may seem like sweet, innocent fun...but he is the type of guy who gives you the creeps before he even says anything. There's something not quite right about him. I don't trust him....

Movin' on Up in the Academic World??

So. I am going to be applying for the position of Academic Advisor I, a half-time position that we are going to be offering at work by the end of the month. This is so exciting! Typically, you need to have your Master's degree or at least two years of experience if you only have your Bachelor's. Brandon, Dr. Eisenberg, and Judi helped me to tweak my résumé a bit, so I hope the HR department is cool with it!! If so, I will be Advisor Miller. Aww, yeah!

It's Party Time!

Okay, I need some help.  I've just been put in charge of coming up with some fun activities/"stuff" for a Bachelorette Party.  My question for each of you is:

What was fun or would be fun at your own Bachelorette Party...or what would you like/have you liked at Bachelorette Parties you have been to?

A Concerned Mom

My coworker, Linette, has a few concerns about her cutie pie. She's currently 8 months old, attends daycare, and seems to get really sick every two weeks. AND the illnesses are getting worse. The pediatrician apparently makes sure that "daycare kids" are marked as such on their charts.... She does not have anyone to babysit or be a nanny and can't afford that, anyway. I really think that she's thinking about leaving us to be a stay-at-home Mom.
=( Unfortunately, though, she's the backbone at work. We would fall apart without her!!! AND, she really wants to get her Master's degree - the whole purpose of having worked here is that she can go to school practically for free! Hmm. She wants to know:

1) When you have worked at/visited preschools, were the kiddos typically sick almost all of the time?

2) She would like to take her kiddo to the gym with her. What is a safe age for kiddos to play in the child care center at a typical gym (in this case, Bally's)?

I Can Breathe!

Financial Aid finally responded, and I have been approved for my loans. Whew! But I won't be able to breathe as well as I used to until the money is actually disbursed. Hmm. Interesting. I had to refer to www.dictionary.com to remember if I should have written disbursed or dispersed. I could have said either, technically, but the latter would have required a bit of time to clean up. And I'd need mace to keep people away from my money. Poor bastards, trying to steal my money.

I would like to create on-line Mad-Libs for people. I think that would be really fun. I wonder how I could do that. It would require having Web space. And that costs money. Think the University would fund me? I'll call it research in humor. Ooh! Or humour. They're sure to fund me if they think it's all glam, like other European stuff, don'tcha think? Yeah, me neither.

Ghosts & Boogers

So, I got a good laugh from a caller on Dudley and Bob today. The topic was something like 'Shallow Reasons I Won't Vote for ______". The caller said that, were he voting according to his shallow thoughts, he wouldn't vote for Kerry because Kerry always sounds like he's telling a ghost story. And he wouldn't vote for Edwards because everytime Edwards does that cheesey thumbs-up thing, he looks like he's trying to flick a booger off of his thumb.
I laughed heartily.

They're Out to Get Me!!

Once, when I was driving, my folded sun visors flipped open and scared me, big time! I thought that a raccoon had gotten into my car.

And, this morning, there was a stinky, skunky smell in the stairwell as I made my way up to the 4th floor where I work. So, naturally, I figured that someone must have put a rabid skunk in the stairwell as a practical joke on someone.

And the time I destroyed Steph's car with a deer? I slammed into the deer, and it flipped over the top of the car. But, I momentarily feared that the deer had fallen into the backseat. (A bit Tommy Boy-esque.)

What in the world?! Apparently my explanation for the unnatural defaults to the fact that animals are out to get me.... I think I watched too much Snow White as a kid.

Gary Groundhog

[*Ahem* - This Post is Not For Children....]

Gary Groundhog stepped outside.
It was time to run and hide.
His shadow, everyone awaited,
to see what weather soon was fated.

Gary Groundhog looked around,
His shadow nowhere to be found.
How did he have so much power?
He just shrugged and ate a flower.

Gary Groundhog burped a bit.
Then, he sat to take a $hit.
What a big one!  Holy crap!
Then he knew he'd earned his nap.
